Finished: Whiteout (Follett) Wow, it's been a long time since I've read a book in one day! And, this is an older one of Follett's, not one of his long behemoths (which I do love), but so very suspenseful! Set in a remote part of Scotland, the director of a lab that tests possible cures for life-threatening bacteria and viruses, discovers that there are vials of an unproven cure for the ebola virus missing...along with a very dependable employee. Of course, a lab that is testing for cures must have all the dangerous diseases right there as well. Upon finding the employee very dead at home and bleeding from every body pore, a state of emergency is declared. However, the employee was just an animal-lover trying to save an infected animal he'd grown attached to. There is a far more nefarious foe in the mix, as the multi-millionaire lab company owner's son is planning to commit the ultimate betrayal, and in the process, put the entire world population in grave danger. A really, really good book!
