Sources-Top Books & Authors

Following are the lists of the Top 100 Books and Top 100 Authors which I worked from for my reading projects beginning in January 2012. My goal when I started was to read at least one book from each of the Top 100 authors. In doing so, I read many of the eventual Top 100 books. After completing the authors goal, I then began reading the Top 100 Books. I don't read just from these lists, but also include other books, plays and poetry I become interested in reading along the way.

This is the Top 100 Book list I worked from. I created this list by combining the Top 100 lists from the following entities: Modern Library, GreatBooks.org, The Observer, Norwegian Nobel, Time Magazine Since 1923, Globe Mail, Novel 100 D. Burke, Modern Library Radcliffe, Boston Library Most Influential, Telegraph Perfect Library, BBC Big Read, and the Top Ten Writer's Favorites. I can't say that I agree with some of the top choices, but who am I to argue? I will create my own Top 100 list when I'm done...and here's a hint...neither Ulysses or Lolita will be on it! :-)

Author lists aren't as prevalent as Book lists, but I was able to come up with a pretty good Top 100 I believe. I included the first book or poem I read by each author.
